Loay Motawie Privacy Policy

Loay Mohamed ("we") runs the Loay Motawie app and the website loaymotawie.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Your name, email address and phone number, and your parent's phone number
  • Your school and grade
  • A profile photo, if you add one
  • Homework and quiz work you hand in: text, photos and files
  • If you sign in with Apple or Google: the name, email address and account identifier they share with us
  • On the website: what you write in the contact form or a course registration form

Information collected as you use the app and website

  • Your progress in lesson videos: where you stopped, how long you watched, the playback speed, and whether the app was open on your screen. We use this to let you pick up where you left off, and to show your progress to you, your teacher and your parent.
  • Your IP address and the version of your browser or app, which our servers record with each request, to keep accounts and the service secure.
  • Your attendance, marks and feedback, recorded by your teacher.
  • A notification ID for your device, with its model, operating system version and the app version, so we can send you notifications.
  • On the website, cookies that keep you signed in and protect forms. The website has no analytics or advertising cookies.

Shown on your screen

Your name, phone number and account ID are displayed as a watermark over lesson videos, to discourage copying. The watermark is drawn by the app on your device; it is not added to the videos themselves.

We do not collect your location or your contacts, we do not show ads, and we do not use your information to track you across other apps or websites.

How we use it

To run your account; to give you your lessons, homework and grades; to help your teacher mark your work; to send the notifications you have allowed; to let your teacher and your parent see your progress; to keep accounts secure; and to protect lesson content from being copied.

Automatic marking

Your teacher can use automatic marking to help mark homework and exam papers. When they do, images of the pages you handed in are sent to OpenRouter, which passes them to Google's Gemini model to suggest marks and feedback. The pages may show your name if it is written on them. Your teacher checks the suggested marks before publishing them to you.

If your class allows self-marking on the website, you can send your own work for automatic marking in the same way.

Who we share it with

  • Your teacher and their teaching assistants see your homework, marks, attendance and progress.
  • Your parent, if their phone number is linked to your account, can see your homework and quiz results, attendance, reports and progress.
  • OneSignal sends push notifications for us. It receives your account ID, your device's notification ID and basic information about your device.
  • OpenRouter and Google receive homework pages when automatic marking is used, as described above.
  • WaSender sends parents their sign-in codes by WhatsApp. It receives the parent's phone number and the code.
  • Google Cloud stores our data for us, on servers in the United States.
  • Cloudflare carries traffic between you and our servers, and protects the website from attacks.
  • On the website, fonts and icons load from Google Fonts, cdnjs and jsDelivr, which receive your IP address when a page loads.

We do not sell your information.

Keeping it and deleting it

We keep your information while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Profile, then Delete account, or at loaymotawie.com/delete-account. When you do, your personal information is deleted immediately, including your homework, marks, attendance and watch history. If you ask us to delete it by email or WhatsApp instead, we do it within 30 days.

Two kinds of record are kept after deletion, and neither identifies you: a note that a member of our staff acted on your account, with the action and the date only; and the cost of any automatic marking of your work, for our accounts.

Students under 18

The app is for secondary-school students. It is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you are under 18, please use the app with your parent's or guardian's knowledge.

Security

Everything the app and website send is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only in a form that cannot be turned back into the password.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your information. You can correct most of it yourself in your profile, and delete your account as described above.
